How to Clean Gas Stove Top?

It’s the day after Diwali, and the kitchen is a mess. There are dishes piled high in the sink, spills on the floor, and crumbs everywhere. But the worst mess of all is the gas stove top. It’s covered in food particles, grease, and sauce. How will I ever get it clean?

Well, this is an issue that brings you here. Or, you just want to clean a gas stove due to the normal everyday cooking mess. Whatever the reason is, I will guide you through how to clean the gas stove top easily and quickly.

But before we start the cleaning process, you should need some stuff that I will list below. Moreover, you need to follow my step-by-step cleaning guide if you want to get rid of your messy gas stove top.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s put our cleaning gloves on!

What You Will Need for Cleaning?

Before we splash the water, here are some things that you must have if you want to clean your gas stove top:

  • A mild dish soap
  • A sponge or soft cloth
  • Baking soda (optional)
  • White vinegar (optional)
  • Dry towels or paper towels

Pre-Cleaning Steps

So now you have all the stuff on standby and this is what you need to do.

Take a look at your stove and identify the areas that need immediate attention. If there are any spills, caked on grease or food, make sure to scrape them off with a spatula or a butter knife. Do not use anything sharp as you might scratch the surface of your stove.

Once you have removed all the big chunks of grime, it is time to pre-clean the stove. This will help make the main cleaning process easier.

Start by spraying a little bit of water on the surface of your stove and then follow up with mild dish soap. Use a sponge or soft cloth to scrub in small circles. Rinse the area with clean water and dry it off with a towel.

If you have tough stains, you can sprinkle baking soda on the wet sponge or cloth and then scrub. You can also use white vinegar instead of water for pre-cleaning. Simply soak a cloth in vinegar and lay it over the affected area for a few minutes before scrubbing.

Main Cleaning Process

Now it is time to give your stovetop a good cleaning.

Step. 1

Start by taking off all the removable parts of your stove, such as the burner grates and caps. If they are not too dirty, you can soak them in soapy water while you clean the rest of the stove. If they are very dirty, you can scrub them with a sponge or brush.

Step. 2

Next, turn on all the burners and let them heat up for a few minutes. This will help loosen any grease and grime that is stuck to the surface.

Step. 3

Once the stovetop is nice and warm, turn off the burners and let it cool down for a few minutes. Then, sprinkle baking soda or white vinegar all over the surface.

Step. 4

Use a sponge or soft cloth to scrub the entire area in small circles. Rinse the stove with clean water and dry it off with a towel.

Finally, put all the removable parts back in place, and you are done!
